Great Sex – Boost Sexual Desire and Intensity With Aromatherapy Read more at Suite101: Great Sex – Boost Sexual Desire and Intensity With Aromatherap

A kiss, a caress and soft whispers; we all yearn for love and intimacy with that special someone. Lust and sexual desire for one another is an integral part of a healthy relationship. If the fire in your partnership has dwindled to pieces of smoking cinders, here are a few suggestions to re-ignite the red-hot flames of passion the natural way.

Correlations between our sense of smell and emotions

Humans have approximately 5 million smell receptors/neurons located high up in the nasal cavity and the information they receive are processed by a section of the brain known as the "limbic system," which also is partly responsible for our emotional thought processes. This is the reason we associate certain smells with emotion for example: the smell of a particular perfume might remind you of a special person or the smell of warm apple pie may remind of your dear grandmother.

How essential oils can spice up your sex life

Selecting the right blend of essential oils will stir the senses and inspire feelings of romance. Here are a few ways of using essential oils to enthuse a romantic disposition:

  • Add great visual impact and are a great addition to help set the mood. Soy-based or vegetable-based candles burn cleanly and are non-toxic – compared to petroleum-based candles which pollute the space with toxic fumes.
  • Massage Oil – A sensual massage is an ideal way to induce a sense of relaxation and rouse intimacy. Oils should not be used on the genitals as this may cause burning and irritation.
  • Oil Burner – Fill the air with an aroma you associate with relaxation and pleasure which you and your partner will both enjoy

Which essentials oils are best for stimulating romance?

According to Margrit Bachmann, author of (Phillip Mathews Publishers, 1999), when aromas and romance meet, the essential oil blends are aptly called "aromantics." When added to a base carrier oil such as sweet almond oil or jojoba oil, the aromantics conducive to love-making are a blend of the following:

  • Clary Sage, Neroli, and Patchouli
  • Patchouli, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang
  • Clary Sage, Rose and Sandalwood

These blends fuse well together to promote an uplifting mood and a sensation of love. There are of course countless other combinattions to try, but a basic rule is to choose a floral scent and a musky/woody scent eg: geranium and cinnamon, cedar and rose or jasmine and sandalwood. Use up to and no more than three oils at a time, the mix may become too strong and have an adverse effect.

Pure essential oils are natural and contain no synthetic substances

One hundred percent pure essential oils have great therapeutic properties and will not release toxic chemicals into the air when used in a burner or when applied directly to the skin. Synthetic oils can often cause nausea or headaches and it is really important to on the bottle to ensure you are getting a pure, premium product.

Love, romance and our desire for one another is a fundamental part of who we are and how we interact as human beings. It is the ultimate expression of trust and affection and without romance and the act of love-making, the human race simply would not exist.

Pure essential oils will add another dimension of excitement to your romantic experiences and help to keep the fire of passion for each other burning brightly.
